Color & Acid Stain Concrete

Acid stain doesn't apply color on top of concrete — it reacts chemically with what's already in it, which is why every surface it touches turns out genuinely one of a kind.

Interior/Exterior Applications

Surface Condition Determines Everything.

The quality of the finished stain result depends almost entirely on the condition of the concrete being treated — its age, surface texture, previous sealers, and any contamination present. Skipping proper surface prep is the most common reason stain jobs look uneven or blotchy. AJ Criss assesses existing surfaces honestly and prepares new pours specifically for stain application, so the chemistry works the way it's supposed to and the result holds up under UV, foot traffic, and regular cleaning.

Depth, Character, and Color You Can't Replicate.

Standard gray concrete is functional, but concrete with a well-executed color or acid stain treatment is something else entirely — it has the kind of depth and variation that makes a surface look like it belongs rather than like it was simply poured. Acid staining uses a chemical reaction with the concrete's mineral content to produce translucent, variegated tones that shift in different light conditions. Integral color and water-based stain systems offer broader consistency and palette range. AJ Criss applies all three methods to patios, driveways, pool decks, and interior-exterior transition surfaces across North County San Diego.
